Turtle Bay Seeks Responsible Development

The Turtle Bay Association is not opposed to reasonable development. We would have welcomed the Trump building had it been legal and in scale with the community. We fight against commercial intrusion into our residential areas. The low-rise buildings on First and Second Avenues are zoned for dense residential structures with ground-floor commercial use and, given the robust economy and their proximity to the Midtown business district, are now prime targets for development. If that development is consistent with our goals, we do not object to it. (See story, p. 5, which reflects the pressures being put on these avenues.)
