Senior Center Update

The opening of the Senior Center at St. Peter's Church has been moved from mid-June to at least the end of July, and perhaps as late as early September because of various construction-related delays. However, according to Ricky Mabon, the new Director of the Center, it is actively engaged in program design and volunteer staffing.

Volunteers are needed in many areas, including taking lunch tickets, answering phones, setting up and serving lunch, and teaching classes. The Center is specifically seeking people who can teach art, language and fitness classes, but if you have an idea for a class that you would like to teach, let them know about that as well. If you have special skills that would benefit the Center or those who use their services, please call and discuss ways you might contribute. Volunteers can work as little as an hour a week, or as much as their schedules permit.

Correction to information in our March article: the Center will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It will not be open on Tuesdays.

If you would like to volunteer, or need more information about the Center, please call Ms. Mabon or her associate, Ms. Kim Reed at 935-2200, extension 338.
