LETS CLEANUP NYC TOGETHER! Many of our Turtle Bay LETS CLEANUP NYC TOGETHER!

Many of our Turtle Bay streets have been “decorated” with graffiti, creating an unsightly mess for our neighborhood, while impacting both residents & businesses alike.

If you would like to volunteer on Sat 4/10, plz meet at the 17th Precinct (167 E 51st St, btw 3rd/Lex) for coffee at 10:30a. Transportation to the spots will be provided.

If you prefer to meet directly at the 1st clean up site at 11a, please go to 100 UN Plaza (1st Ave & 48th St). Upon completion of the 1st cleanup site, transportation will be provided for volunteers to the next site within their sector (each neighborhood in the Precinct’s zone will be cleaning up 3 separate sites.)

Pizza will be served at the precinct following the clean-up

Composting is back at Dag Park! Acting in partner Composting is back at Dag Park!

Acting in partnership with @nyccompostproject & @nycsanitation, the program adheres to strict guidelines (see below). Not to be confused w/ the compost collection offered by the @grownyc prior to the pandemic, the @lesecologyctr operation is new to the Plaza.

WHERE: Look for the GREEN BINS near the garden gate & library box on the cobble platform behind @pinkmoosenyc. Please observe the signs which clarify the rules.

WHAT IS ACCEPTED:
* YES: Fruit & veggies, coffee, tea, nuts, grains & baked goods.
* NO: meat, fish or dairy products.
* NO: plastics or paper products, and absolutely NO dog poop!

WHEN: The bins will be open every Wed from ~9a - 3p. After that, the bins are locked down to deter vermin and misuse until the Ecology Center collects the waste for transport to East River Park Compost Yard for processing. Finished compost is donated to community greening groups. As the program gets underway, more bins will be added to meet demand.

In April, @friendsofdagplaza will announce Love Your Park Clean-up/Green-up dates. Those handy devices, "grabbers," make it easy to pick up trash and debris without touching it and are available to volunteers. If you can lend a hand, please DM us!

Send us photos of you composting and we will share them!

Spring Cleaning Many of our Turtle Bay streets ha Spring Cleaning

Many of our Turtle Bay streets have been “decorated” with graffiti & trash, especially at the corner of 50th & 2nd. This has created an unsightly mess, impacting both residents & businesses.

The pictures here show areas we are trying to clean up.

On the 17th & 18th, crews were dispatched to 50th and 2nd to power wash the area and remove the graffiti.

Next, we will target our Turtle Bay trash cans - they will be cleaned, and if any are missing, replaced.

Our neighborhood needs to be clean and safe for all of us to enjoy. Please help us to keep it that way!!

If you “see something,” (trash, graffiti, loitering, etc), “say something.” Call 311, notify Keith Powers (kpowers@council.nyc.gov), and @nycmayor @nycmayorsoffice

PLEASE HELP US KEEP TURTLE BAY CLEAN AND SAFE!
